I have to admit that rain storms, especially short downpours followed by blue skies, are good for my soul. Yesterday's afternoon shower was not only followed by blue skies, but two of the better singer songwriters in town playing to an enthusiastic audience at Momos. Only problem was there weren't enough bodies in the room. What's up with that? You would probably recognize Kacy Crowley's song Badass, played frequently on TV, and radio, I think (I just rarely watch ME TV or listen to the radio, so I am taking that on faith). Now, she doesn't wear roller skates on stage, but she's still a badass. Haunting voice, deep introspective lyrics, and a laid back sense of humor make for a good show.
Follow that with the hypnotic bounce of Suzanna Choffel's Brazilian laced rhythms and imagery rich lyrics, and you've got a first rate night of music. Suzanna's band rocks. There was no bass player last night, so we were treated with a jazz trio of Suzanna (guitar), Eldridge Goins (drums), and Brad Hauser (baritone sax). Two words, kick bass, or something like that.
If you aren't checking Tuesdays at Momos out, you're missing out.
